In August the Gardening Group joined with the Local History and Historic Buildings Group to visit Dumfries House and gardens. We booked a guided tour of the house, which has a fascinating history, and is now part of the King's Foundation. It has been beautifully restored, and contains a wonderful collection of some very valuable Chippendale furniture. We also walked round parts of the grounds, including the spectacular and colourful walled garden. The vegetables grown there are used in the restaurant and café.
