The visit and guided tour of the HEP plant at Tongland proved so popular that we had to run a second visit.

Both groups enjoyed a tour of the station and a visit upstream to the dam. Host and plant manager Martin McGhie welcomed them and explained a lot of interesting details about the station, which is itself a beautiful example of Art Deco architecture. The walk on the dam was mesmerizing, although unfortunately not a beauty of Art Deco, but very strong in order to hold trillions of tons of water.
