July - Tal-y-Fan

In July the Gardening group paid a return visit to Tal-y-Fan near Gatehouse.  A few areas have been developed since our visit last October, and the summer colours are beautiful.  Different areas of the garden are named, such as the "Secret Path" through an area which was previously very overgrown, and the "Won Kei Parterre". The "Listed Building" is a dog-house which blew sideways in a storm, but there are plans to make it upright again. Most of the ground is on a slope, with a hill at the back which affords fantastic views over the garden and the surrounding countryside.  There is a small handkerchief tree, not in bloom at the moment, and a hedge cut in the shape of "the Loch Corbie Monster".  The very hospitable and enthusiastic owners have invited us back next year to see the spring colours.
