Would you like to join us on a day out to the Burrell Collection and Pollok Country Park on Wednesday 26th August?

As their website says:

‘This magnificent collection in its purpose-built home surrounded by beautiful parkland, is ranked amongst the most significant civic museum collections in the UK, comparable to the National Gallery and the V&A in London.’

There will be much to interest us.

It stands in the beautiful surroundings of Pollok Country Park with opportunities for a walk to see the Highland cows or a visit to the gardens of Pollok House. (Please note Pollok House itself is no longer open.) I attach a map. Entrance to the collection is free.

For those who would find it useful, wheelchairs are available to borrow.

Full details of the Burrell Collection are on their website:

https://burrellcollection.com

There is a coffee shop and a restaurant in the main building.

We will travel by 49 seater coach leaving Newton Stewart at 8am and returning at 4.30pm. The coach has a toilet. It does not have an access ramp. The cost of the trip is £20, with a non refundable deposit of £10 required to reserve your place. The balance of £10 needs to be paid on or before the monthly meeting 26th June.

This trip is for members only. Places cannot be offered to friends, partners or spouse. This is due to u3a insurance terms.
