Wigtown Book Festival
Wigtownshire u3a were pleased to be given a grant by central u3a to be an Associate Sponsor othe Wigtown Book Festival Autumn 2025. We sponsored four excellent speakers and provided 12 free taster sessions for the public to try. 56 of our members worked for u3a over the 10 day event and others worked as volunteers for the book festival. As a result u3a has a higher profile locally and new members have joined.
Would you like to influence how Wigtownshire u3a grows and develops?
We invite all members to think about whether they would like to join. If you become a committee member you have an important role, representing members and making decisions on their behalf. Through your vote on the committee you will help set the direction Wigtownshire u3a takes in the future.
The committee meets once a month at 1pm on the second Thursday of the month in Wigtown. Members are welcome to come to meetings to see what goes on and perhaps find an area where you could help.
Booking your holiday through Riviera Travel?
U3A members booking holidays with Riviera Travel are eligible for a 10% discount provided the person booking mentions Wigtownshire U3A at the time of doing so. Riviera will donate this 10% of the total basic cost of all travellers included on the booking, as a charitable donation to the Wigtownshire U3A.
Banking scam warning
We have been warned that u3a's are being targeted by phone calls purporting to be from their bank's Fraud Department. A number of other u3as have reported similar attempted scams. As a result, we are removing all personal details from the website. Please use the contact forms throughout the site to email committee members.
If you are suspicious about a phone call, the safest thing is to hang up. There is information about staying safe online under Keep Safe.
